Comics

One day I decided to come up with the dumbest (plausible) possible name for a super hero. I came up with Space Skull. I drew a flaming green skull, which is one of those comic book things that has been done a gazillion times but is always pretty awesome.

The character quickly grew on me as having great potential for a screwball comedy. I got 19 pages of illustration done when I realized the horrible truth.

My screwball comedy had gone into a pretty dark place. I think I assumed colorful anthropomorphic warrior bears would be inherently light-hearted, but I was so very wrong. I didn’t post all 19 pages, but the last page in the slideshow is the strongest page in my opinion.

Unfortunately, heads impaled on spears in the middle of an all out war wasn’t the vibe I intended when I started this project.

So I am back recalibrating Space Skull so he fits firmly within the comedy genre. That includes a redesign of Space Skull himself, because this version is too badass looking to be the dork blasting off in the first few pages.

The images were created in ChatGPT, and I did the composition in Photoshop.

Onward and upward!

Wild Man is a short comic I created I would have a short, finished project to post. All of the images were generated in ChatGPT using a classic gritty 1950’s horror aesthetic. I did the composition and imaged editing in Photoshop. I handled the lettering in Illustrator. I wrote it too.
